Job summary

Granite Construction is seeking a Cost Estimator/Engineer in Irving, TX to provide technical engineering and cost information for solar projects up to 500MW. You will ensure construction work complies with engineering standards during pre-drill, post installation, tracker installation, and module installation on large-scale solar projects.

The role requires 2+ years of related experience, proficiency in MS Office, and the ability to review drawings and prepare cost reports.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field preferred.
2+ years construction estimating support, engineering, field support, or similar experience.
Proficiency with MS Office and scheduling tools.

Responsibilities

Assist with job controls to ensure compliance with contract, budget, schedule, forecasting, and job costing.
Review and prepare daily cost reporting to the project team and upper management.
Interpret design/drawings for craft workers installing material to ensure specifications are followed.
Interface with on-site departments to resolve problems and support project schedule.
Prepare drawings and sketches to support construction work, change orders, and estimates to meet changing job requirements.
Develop job essential data including quantity take-offs, material price lists, labor costs per man hour, and equipment to ensure accurate estimates and bids.
