Job summary

Continental Energy Solutions in Illinois seeks a Solar & ESS Field Technician to perform maintenance, inspections and verification on commercial solar and battery storage projects.

You will operate and maintain solar arrays and energy storage systems following established safety standards and procedures, traveling as needed to site locations.

Minimum two years of technical experience and a valid driver's license are required; travel up to 30% is expected. NABCEP and OSHA 30 preferred credentials.

Qualifications

• Two years of technical experience (electrical, etc.)
• Minimum 2 years' experience maintaining commercial or utility solar arrays
• Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record
• Understanding of solar photovoltaic, energy storage, and microgrid applications
• Understanding of electrical and mechanical functions of all components of solar site and associated equipment
• Ability to read electrical single-line and three-line diagrams / schematics
• Experience with PV and electrical systems including DC systems, AC MV, and network monitoring
• Experience with Material Takeoffs for replacement of failed equipment
• Experience with the operation of various SCADA systems
• Knowledge of NEC and standard practices
• NABCEP and OSHA 30 preferred
• Ability to climb / work safely from a portable ladder and rooftops
• Ability to lift up to 45 kg (100 pounds)
• Willing to travel up to 30% with overnights and on call

Responsibilities

• Operate and maintain commercial, industrial, and utility solar and ESS plants in Illinois
• Troubleshoot electrical components with meters and testing equipment; perform daily inspections
• Conduct preventive maintenance inspections and thorough reporting
• Perform routine maintenance on solar panels, battery storage, and related equipment
• Perform drone and infrared thermography inspections as needed
• Maintain accurate O&M documentation, including logs, work orders, and inventory records
• Generate and manage service orders, time logs, and emergency schedules
