Job summary

CVS Health is seeking a Software Engineer for Workforce Insights to develop and operate analytics software spanning Python services, SQL transformations, and BI integrations. You will partner with data and HR specialists to translate requirements into maintainable code, tests, and releases, building domain knowledge with experienced teammates.

The role emphasizes security, data quality, and scalable data workflows using BigQuery, Airflow, and Superset.

Qualifications

• 3+ years professional software development experience.
• 3+ years Python experience with writeable, testable code and automated tests.
• 3+ years building or integrating APIs, services, data workflows, or other production systems.
• 3+ years across application code, data transformations, and operational tooling.
• 2+ years advanced SQL expertise, preferably BigQuery, including scripting and partitioning.
• 2+ years Kimball dimensional modeling (grain, conformed dims, SCDs).
• 2+ years production experience with Airflow or Cloud Composer and Python ETL.
• 2+ years hands-on with cloud data platforms (GCP, BigQuery, IAM).
• 1+ year experience with enterprise BI layers (Superset/Power BI/Looker).
• 1+ year experience with Git, code reviews, CI/CD across environments.
• 1+ year tracing data or metric discrepancies for root cause.

Responsibilities

• Develop Workfoce Insight software across Python, SQL, and workflow code.
• Translate requirements into tasks; collaborate with data engineers, analysts, and HR partners.
• Write automated tests for business logic, data contracts, and integrations.
• Build BigQuery transformations and models for the product with proper performance.
• Integrate data and metrics via BI integrations with governance and security considerations.
• Document changes affecting reported numbers and obtain approval from definition owners.
• Contribute to Superset datasets and dashboard integrations; evaluate APIs, caching, and SSO.
• Operate and release software with Airflow workflows, Python automation, and deployment tooling.
• Follow GitHub Actions release processes across environments and honor IAM controls.
• Maintain documentation, support secure releases, and assist incident remediation.
