Job summary

CVS Health is seeking a Software Engineer to design, implement, and operate analytics software for Workforce Insights. You will work on Python services, SQL transformations, Airflow workflows, and BI integrations, partnering with data and HR experts to translate requirements into maintainable code and tests.

You will contribute to BigQuery models, Superset and Power BI dashboards, and ensure security and data quality.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of professional software development experience, or equivalent
• 3+ years of experience with Python or a comparable general-purpose language
• 3+ years of experience building or integrating APIs, services, data workflows, or other production systems
• 3+ years of experience working across application code, data transformations, and operational tooling
• 2+ years of experience with BigQuery, including scripting, partitioning, clustering, and optimization
• 2+ years of experience with Kimball dimensional modeling concepts
• 2+ years of production experience with Airflow or Cloud Composer and Python for ETL
• 2+ years of hands-on experience with cloud data platforms (GCP preferred)
• 1+ year of experience with enterprise BI/semantic layer tools (Superset, ThoughtSpot, Looker, Power BI)
• 1+ year of experience with Git, code review, and CI/CD practices (GitHub Actions)
• 1+ year of experience tracing data or metric discrepancies to root cause and explaining findings

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, test, and maintain software features across Python, SQL, and workflow code
• Translate requirements into technical tasks and collaborate with data engineers, analysts, and HR partners
• Participate in code reviews and write automated tests for business logic and data contracts
• Build and maintain BigQuery transformations and models following conventions
• Implement workforce metric definitions in SQL and BI integrations
• Document changes affecting reported numbers and get owner approval before release
• Contribute to Superset datasets and dashboard integrations; evaluate APIs, caching, and SSO
• Follow security patterns: access-control, policy tags, and data classification
• Maintain Airflow workflows, Python automation, and deployment tooling
• Use GitHub Actions across environments; support safe releases and incident processes
• Keep technical documentation current and help modernize the stack
• Share context and explain tradeoffs to technical and non-technical partners
