Job summary

Republic Services is seeking an Operator – Heavy Equipment to safely operate heavy equipment at a recycling facility, landfill or transfer station for transferring, spreading, covering, loading and compacting waste or soil.

The role emphasizes routine inspections, minor maintenance, documentation, and strict adherence to safety policies, with a focus on efficient, safe operations and teamwork. Prior OSHA-site experience is preferred to support our safety culture.

Qualifications

• Minimum two years of related heavy equipment operation experience.
• Experience working at sites regulated by OSHA is required.

Responsibilities

• Perform pre- and post-operation inspection of equipment to ensure safety and readiness.
• Safely operate forklift, excavator, bulldozer, front-end loader and other equipment.
• Monitor waste for unacceptable materials and ensure equipment is ready for use.
• Perform minor service on equipment and document it; report larger repairs as needed.
• Complete Equipment Condition Reports and other required documentation.
• Follow all safety policies and keep the shop clean and organized.
• Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
