Job summary

Republic Services is seeking an Operator – Heavy Equipment to safely operate forklifts, excavators, bulldozers, and loaders at our recycling/landfill sites. You will perform inspections, manage waste handling tasks, and support maintenance reporting in a fast-paced environment.

The role requires OSHA-site experience, solid safety practices, and reliable time management to meet daily targets and keep operations running smoothly.

Qualifications

• Two years’ prior related experience operating heavy equipment.
• Experience working at OSHA-regulated sites is preferred.
• Strong safety awareness and commitment to professional conduct.
• Good time management and dependable follow-through.

Responsibilities

• Perform pre- and post-operation inspections per policy to ensure equipment is safe.
• Safely operate heavy equipment to transfer, spread, load, and/or compact waste or soil.
• Monitor waste quality and equipment readiness to minimize downtime.
• Document minor maintenance needs and report repairs as needed to supervision.
• Keep work areas clean and ensure safe operations at shift end.
