Job summary

Republic Services is seeking a Operator - Heavy Equipment to safely operate diverse heavy machinery at a recycling center, landfill or transfer station. The role emphasizes pre/post inspections, adherence to safety policies and efficient operation to support waste transfer, spreading, covering and loading activities.

The position requires 2 years of heavy equipment experience and 1 year on OSHA-regulated sites, with strong customer service and time-management skills to maintain reliable

Qualifications

• Two years of prior related experience in heavy equipment operation.
• One year of prior experience working at sites regulated by OSHA.

Responsibilities

• Perform pre- and post-operation inspection of the equipment to ensure windows, lights, mirrors and rear view camera are clean and safe.
• Safely and efficiently operate equipment such as forklift, excavator, bulldozer, front-end loader and other equipment using proper safety standards.
• Monitor waste for evidence of unacceptable waste in materials.
• Perform and document minor service on equipment; refer major issues to Maintenance Shop for repair.
• Complete Equipment Condition Reports and other reports; report repairs to supervisor.
• Follow all required safety policies and procedures; keep shop clean, serviced and stored after each shift.
• Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
