Job summary

Harkins Builders is seeking a Superintendent 1 to manage production, quality, safety, and on-time profitable completion of assigned projects in Washington, DC. You will supervise engineers, coordinate shop drawings, enforce safety and QA/QC, and lead weekly progress meetings with subcontractors.

Strong knowledge of scheduling, budgeting, and subcontract management is required, along with experience using MS Excel, Word, Project, and Procore. Competitive benefits and ESOP are offered.

Qualifications

• Progressive construction experience in a supervisor role.
• Experience in leading and coaching teams to achieve quality and deadlines.
• Knowledge of estimating, scheduling, budget/cost control, negotiation, field supervision, and financial reporting.
• Ability to interpret plans and contract documents and manage subcontractor relationships.
• Ability to use construction management software including MS Excel, MS Word, MS Project, Procore.

Responsibilities

• Manage production, quality, safety, and timely profitable completion of projects through subordinates and subcontractors.
• Review and approve subcontractor requisitions and invoices per procedures.
• Supervise and develop project engineers and field staff.
• Coordinate shop drawings, samples, and specification sheets.
• Enforce safety program with zero-tolerance on site.
• Develop and enforce a site quality control plan and conduct preconstruction meetings with subs.
• Notify Lead superintendent of contract changes and design issues.
• Prepare project schedules with milestones and update monthly.
• Maintain up-to-date insurance certificates and wage reports.
• Chair weekly progress meetings with subs and distribute minutes.
• Assist with monthly job reviews and staffing plans.
• Expedite exterior mock-ups and document approvals.
