Job summary

Coast Guard Exchange in New London, CT, is seeking a Food Service Worker – Short Order Cook (04). This intermittent role pays $19.95/hour for a snack-bar style operation and involves varied food prep tasks.

The position requires following recipes, food safety practices, and basic cash handling; you may assist with inventory and maintaining clean work areas. Minimum experience includes at least one year cooking in a food service setting.

Qualifications

One year of cooking experience in a food service facility.
Experience with standard sanitation in handling and serving food.
Must be able to follow recipes and combine ingredients for salads and uncooked dishes.
Must obtain a Food Handler's Certificate or complete training.
Physically able to frequently lift up to 40 pounds and stand/walk for long periods.

Responsibilities

Perform a variety of food preparations and limited cooking tasks in a snack bar setting.
Grill or fry items such as pancakes, burgers, hot dogs, bacon, eggs and sausages while monitoring cooking temperatures.
Maintain cleanliness of equipment and work area; assist with basic cash handling and inventory.
