Coast Guard Exchange's MWR Academy in New London, CT seeks a Food Service Worker/Short Order Cook-04 for intermittent, part-time hours (0-19/week). Salary is $19.95 per hour.

The role focuses on grilling, frying, assembling meals and ensuring safe, clean food prep areas in a busy snack-bar style operation. Responsibilities include following recipes, measuring ingredients, operating a cash register, assisting in inventory, and maintaining equipment, while adhering to safety regulations.

Qualifications

• Minimum one year cooking experience in a food service facility.
• Experience with standard sanitation procedures for handling and serving food.
• Ability to follow recipes and prepare special salads and uncooked dishes.
• Must obtain a Food Handler's Certificate and/or complete food handler training.
• Must be able to lift up to 40 pounds and stand/walk for long periods.

Responsibilities

• Prepare grill and fry items (pancakes, burgers, hot dogs, eggs, etc.) and portion ingredients as directed.
• Assemble salads, sandwiches, and fruit plates; prepare vegetables and desserts.
• Clean and sanitize equipment and work areas; operate a mechanical dishwasher and manage supplies.
• Assist in inventory and maintain cash register documentation when applicable.
• Follow safety regulations and report hazards or incidents to supervision.
