MWR Academy Dry Dock in New London, CT, United States, is seeking a Food Service Worker/Short Order Cook (INT #6913) to perform a range of food preparations and limited cooking tasks for a snack bar-style operation.

The position offers a pay rate of $19.95 per hour with an intermittent schedule (0–19 hours per week). Applicants must meet the listed qualifications, maintain safe food handling practices, and be able to lift up to 40 pounds while standing for long periods.

Qualifications

• One year work experience cooking in a food service facility.
• Experience with common sanitation standards in handling and serving food.
• Must be able to follow recipes and combine ingredients for fancy salads and other uncooked dishes.
• Must be able to obtain a Food Handler's Certificate and/or complete food handler's training.
• Must be physically able to frequently lift objects weighing up to 40 pounds. Must be able to continuously stand, walk, stoop, reach, push, pull and bend for long periods of time.
• Two years or more of food service experience.

Responsibilities

• Performs grilling or frying of items and monitors cooking times.
• Prepares salads, sandwiches, and other cold foods following recipes.
• Maintains sanitation and clean work areas; washes dishes and operates dishwasher.
• Follows safety regulations and reports hazards.
• Assists in inventory and cash register operations if required.
