Job summary

The MWR Academy Dry Dock in New London, CT is seeking a Food Service Worker/Short Order Cook to perform a variety of food preparations and limited cooking tasks, including grilling, frying, salads, and sandwiches. The role requires following recipes, maintaining sanitation standards, and operating a cash register if needed.

You will work intermittent hours with potential shifts; applicants must meet the minimum qualifications and be able to lift up to 40 pounds.

Qualifications

• One year work experience cooking in a food service facility.
• Experience with common sanitation standards in handling and serving food.
• Must be able to follow recipes and combine ingredients for salads and other uncooked dishes.
• Must be able to obtain a Food Handler's Certificate and/or complete food handler's training.
• Must be physically able to frequently lift objects weighing up to 40 pounds and stand for long periods.

Responsibilities

• Perform a variety of food preparations and limited cooking tasks.
• Grill or fry pancakes, burgers, hot dogs, bacon, eggs, and sausage while watching and turning as needed.
• Wash dishes, operate a dishwasher, and keep kitchen and dining areas clean.
• May assist in inventory and handle cash register tasks as needed.
