Job summary

Thorntons is seeking a Shift Leader to manage on‑shift leadership duties, cash handling, and inventory control while ensuring food safety and customer satisfaction. You will train team members and coach staff to uphold Thorntons’ standards.

You will cover multiple shifts, supervise compliance with policies, and collaborate with region, HR, and store leadership to deliver a positive guest experience and efficient shift execution.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED preferred.
• Food certifications preferred.
• Experience in retail or food service encouraged.

Responsibilities

• Act as on‑shift leader when Store/General Manager is absent; delegate work and maintain responsibilities.
• Deliver guest service with a helpful attitude and seek opportunities to delight guests.
• Practice safe working habits and report maintenance or safety issues.
• Adhere to laws for restricted sales (alcohol, tobacco, lottery).
• Prepare fresh food meeting food safety requirements; obtain necessary certifications.
• Follow cash handling procedures and document cash discrepancies.
• Keep shelves, displays and equipment stocked and clean.
• Use suggestive selling to increase sales and promote loyalty programs.
• Lead by Thorntons’ Core Values and foster a welcoming environment.
• Follow attendance and company policies; support new initiatives and PAR levels.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.
