Job summary

Potbelly Sandwich Works is hiring a Shift Leader in Illinois. You will lead shift operations, supervise associates, and ensure product quality and outstanding customer service in a fast-paced environment.

The role includes managing costs, enforcing food safety standards, and training team members to deliver the Potbelly experience. Applicants should be at least 18, possess at least 1 year of supervisory experience in a restaurant or retail setting, and pass a Food Safety Certification.

Qualifications

• 1 year supervisory experience in a restaurant or retail environment preferred.
• Must pass and obtain a Food Safety Certification.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Friendly, customer-first mindset in a fast-paced setting.
• Ability to work in a bustling kitchen and manage allergens (peanuts, dairy, gluten, etc.).
• Able to stand/walk for 8–9 hours and lift up to 50 pounds occasionally.

Responsibilities

• Lead team members on shifts, assigning tasks efficiently and giving feedback.
• Maintain cash handling procedures and count drawers.
• Prepare quality finished products (sandwiches, salads, soups, cookies, ice cream).
• Ensure health and safety standards are followed in food handling and cleanliness.
• Restock food lines, chips, and cooler; clean tables, counters, floors, and utensils.
• Handle customer complaints effectively and resolve issues.
