Job summary

Whataburger is seeking a Shift Leader to keep the restaurant running smoothly, coach Team Members, and drive operational excellence on every shift.

You will lead shifts, mentor staff, manage costs, uphold food safety and quality, and partner with the Restaurant Manager to build a strong team culture. If you’re energetic, dependable, and ready to grow, this role offers real leadership opportunities.

Qualifications

• Be at least 18 years of age.
• High school diploma/GED preferred or equivalent experience.
• Open availability: overnights, weekends, holidays, variable hours.
• Stand up to 10 hours; lift up to 55 lbs.
• Experience coaching or leading teams; strong customer service, communication, multitasking.
• ServSafe Certification or ability to obtain during training.

Responsibilities

• Lead shift management to maintain quality, service, and cleanliness.
• Coach, train, and motivate Family Members during rushes.
• Support goals related to food cost, labor cost, sales performance, and basic inventory.
• Uphold food safety, workplace safety, sanitation, and compliance requirements.
• Foster teamwork, communication, accountability, and a positive work culture.
• Prepare and transition shift operations to keep the restaurant running smoothly.
