Job summary

Whataburger is seeking a Shift Leader to drive operational excellence on each shift at the home restaurant, leading a team to deliver quality, service, and safety. You will coach and develop Team Members, manage staffing during day, night, and overnight periods, and help meet cost and sales goals.

As a Shift Leader, you’ll partner with the Restaurant Manager to sharpen leadership skills and strengthen daily operations while supporting a positive, high-energy work culture.

Qualifications

• Be at least 18 years of age.
• High school diploma or GED preferred or equivalent experience.
• Able to meet business needs with overnight and weekend availability.
• Able to stand 10 hours and lift up to 55 lbs.
• Experience coaching or leading teams; ServSafe certification (or ability to obtain).

Responsibilities

• Lead shift management to maintain quality, service, and cleanliness standards.
• Coach, train, and motivate Family Members – helping new hires ketchup quickly and seasoned pros turn up the heat.
• Support goals related to food cost, labor cost, sales performance, and basic inventory processes.
• Uphold food safety, workplace safety, sanitation, and compliance requirements.
• Foster teamwork, communication, accountability, and a positive work culture.
• Prepare, lead, and transition shift operations to keep the restaurant running like a well‑oiled fryer.
