Job summary

Whataburger is seeking a Shift Leader to drive operational excellence and coach team members across shifts. You’ll partner with the Restaurant Manager team to sharpen leadership skills, manage shift operations, and maintain high standards of quality and service.

Based at your home restaurant with opportunities to support neighboring locations, you’ll develop leadership capabilities, oversee daily operations, and contribute to a positive work culture while supporting budgets and safety compliance.

Qualifications

• Be at least 18 years of age.
• High school diploma/GED preferred or equivalent experience.
• Open availability including overnights, weekends, holidays, variable hours.
• Stand up to 10 hours, lift up to 55 lbs., meet physical demands.
• Experience coaching or leading teams; strong customer service, communication, multitasking.
• ServSafe Food Certification (or ability to obtain during training).

Responsibilities

• Lead shift management to maintain quality, service, and cleanliness.
• Coach, train, and motivate Family Members.
• Support goals related to food cost, labor cost, sales performance, and inventory processes.
• Uphold food safety, workplace safety, sanitation, and compliance requirements.
• Foster teamwork, communication, accountability, and positive work culture.
• Prepare, lead, and transition shift operations to keep the restaurant running smoothly.
