Job summary

Smashburger in Phoenix is seeking a Shift Leader to drive guest experiences and lead high-performing shifts alongside the Restaurant General Manager.

You’ll oversee front- and back-of-house teams, train and coach staff (including use of Opus LMS and the 4-step training method), and ensure food safety, cash handling, and schedule adherence while maintaining Smashburger’s hospitality standards. This role rewards initiative with tips and growth opportunities within a fast-paced, family-style team.

Qualifications

• Prior Shift Leader or supervisory experience.
• Complete Train-the-Trainer program within 90 days.
• Strong leadership, communication, and team development skills.
• Flexible availability including nights, weekends, and holidays.

Responsibilities

• Lead high-performing shifts with the GM to deliver guest experiences.
• Oversee FOH & BOH performance and culture.
• Train, coach, and onboard team members using Opus LMS and the 4-step training method.
• Recognize and reward top performers; address gaps with timely coaching.
• Execute daily operations, including checklists, line checks, opening/closing, and cash handling.
• Monitor and improve guest experience metrics (NPS, OSAT).
• Ensure compliance with food safety standards and local health regulations.
• Uphold service standards by modeling exceptional hospitality every shift.
• Manage labor, inventory, and food ordering to meet COGS targets and minimize loss.
