Description
Position Summary: Shift Leaders provide direct supervision and ensure all crew members work efficiently and effectively during their shift. They do not have a minimum hour requirement.
Primary Responsibilities
The following duties are representative but not exhaustive:
- Adhere to restaurant performance standards, ensure crew members are actively working, regulate workflow, and support labor goals by adjusting crew levels.
- Resolve guest concerns promptly, determine if customer credit is necessary, and document decisions for audits.
- Meet guest needs by managing food prep, delivery times, order verification, table clearing, greeting, and thanking guests.
- Maintain food safety and sanitation standards, including glove use, restroom cleanliness, surface disinfection, proper food storage, and floor safety.
- Ensure crew members follow uniform and safety guidelines, including proper attire and footwear.
- Perform shift tasks such as cash handling, deposits, end-of-shift activities, and documenting unusual events.
- Ensure safety and security of staff, guests, products, and cash, including locking doors, setting alarms, and restricting after-hours access.
- Handle administrative tasks like scheduling, ordering, inventory, and reporting as assigned.
- Assist in training and developing crew members.

- Comfort with workplace technology and POS systems.
- Basic math skills and ability to manage and correct crew performance.
Experience/Education & Certifications
- Must pass the Mazzio’s Comp 1 Test before managing a shift.
- Possibly require Food Handler’s permit, Foodservice Sanitation Certification, or other permits/licenses based on local laws.
- Preferred valid driver’s license with insurance and a clean driving record.
Physical Demands
- Ability to exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and perform duties standing, walking, and handling tasks for extended periods.
Working Conditions
- Primarily indoor environment with exposure to heat, humidity, and water. Operating kitchen equipment is routine.
