Description
Position Summary: Shift Leaders provide direct supervision and ensure all crew members work efficiently and effectively during their shift. They do not have a minimum hour requirement.
Primary Responsibilities
The following duties represent the majority of the position's responsibilities but are not exhaustive and other duties may be assigned as necessary:
- Adhere to restaurant performance standards, ensure crew members are actively working, regulate workflow, and support labor goals by adjusting crew levels based on business volume.
- Resolve guest concerns, determine when customer credit is necessary, and document decisions for audits.
- Meet guest needs by ensuring timely food preparation, accurate delivery times, proper order verification, timely table clearing, and welcoming and thanking guests.
- Maintain food safety and sanitation standards, including glove use, restroom cleanliness, surface disinfection, proper food storage, and floor maintenance.
- Ensure crew members follow uniform and safety guidelines, including proper attire and footwear.
- Perform shift-related tasks such as cash handling, deposits, end-of-shift activities, and documenting unusual events.
- Ensure safety and security of crew, guests, products, and cash, including locking doors, setting alarms, and restricting after-hours access.
- Assist with administrative tasks like scheduling, ordering, inventory, and reporting.
- Support in training and developing crew members.

Experience/Education & Certification
- Must pass the Mazzio’s Comp 1 Test before managing a shift.
- May require Food Handler’s permit, Sanitation Certification, or other licenses depending on local laws.
- Preferred valid driver’s license with insurance; must meet insurance standards.
Physical Demands
- Exerting up to 50 pounds occasionally, and lifting or pushing up to 20 pounds frequently.
- Work involves standing, walking, and performing tasks requiring stamina over long shifts.
Working Conditions
- Primarily indoor environment with exposure to temperature changes, heat, and humidity.
- Frequent hand washing and operation of kitchen equipment.
Tools and Equipment
- Includes adding machines, cash registers, computers, ovens, and other kitchen tools.
