Description

Position Summary: Shift Leaders provide direct supervision and ensure all crew members work efficiently and effectively during their shift. They do not have a minimum hour requirement.

Primary Responsibilities

The following duties are representative but not exhaustive:

1. Adhere to restaurant performance standards, ensuring crew members are actively working at their stations, regulating workflow, and supporting labor goals.
2. Resolve guest concerns promptly, determine if customer credit is necessary, and document decisions for audits.
3. Meet guest needs by ensuring timely food prep, accurate delivery times, proper order verification, and timely table service.
4. Maintain food safety and sanitation standards, including glove use, cleanliness, proper food storage, and sanitation of surfaces.
5. Ensure crew compliance with uniform and safety guidelines, including non-slip footwear and proper hair restraints.
6. Perform shift-related tasks such as cash outs, deposits, end-of-shift activities, and document unusual events.
7. Ensure safety and security of all personnel and assets, including locking doors, setting alarms, and securing cash.
8. Handle administrative tasks like scheduling, ordering, inventory, and reporting.
9. Assist in training and developing crew members.

Qualifications

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Proven leadership and decision-making skills.
• Guest relations skills and tact.
• Teamwork and collaboration abilities.
• Knowledge of operational procedures and safety regulations.
• Comfort with workplace technology and POS systems.
• Basic math skills.
• Ability to manage and correct crew performance.

Experience/Education & Certification:

• Must pass Mazzio’s Comp 1 Test before managing a shift.
• Possibly require Food Handler’s permit, Sanitation Certification, or other permits/licenses based on local laws.
• Preferred valid driver’s license with insurance and a clean driving record.

Physical Demands

• Ability to exert force up to 50 pounds occasionally, and perform tasks requiring standing, walking, and other physical activities.

Working Conditions

• Mostly indoor environment with exposure to high temperatures, humidity, and water.

Tools and Equipment

• Includes cash registers, ovens, calculators, and kitchen tools.
