Description
Position Summary: Shift Leaders provide direct supervision and ensure all crew members work efficiently during their shift. They do not have a minimum hour requirement.
Primary Responsibilities
The following duties are representative but not exhaustive:
- Ensure all crew members actively work at their stations, regulate workflow, reassign crew as needed, and support labor goals by adjusting crew levels based on business volume.
- Resolve guest concerns promptly, determine if customer credit is necessary, and document decisions for audits.
- Meet guest needs by ensuring timely food prep, accurate delivery times, proper order verification, prompt table cleaning, and welcoming and thanking guests.
- Maintain food safety and sanitation standards, including glove use, restroom cleanliness, surface disinfection, proper food storage, and floor safety.
- Verify crew compliance with uniform and safety guidelines, including proper attire and footwear.
- Perform shift tasks such as cash handling, deposits, end-of-shift activities, and documenting unusual events.
- Ensure safety and security of all during the shift, including locking doors, setting alarms, securing cash, and controlling access after hours.
- Handle administrative tasks like scheduling, ordering, inventory, and reporting as assigned.
- Assist in training and developing crew members.

- Comfort with workplace technology and POS systems.
- Basic math skills.
- Ability to manage and correct crew performance.
Experience/Education & Certifications
- Must pass the Mazzio’s Comp 1 Test before managing a shift.
- May require a Food Handler’s permit, Foodservice Sanitation Certification, or other permits/licenses depending on local laws.
- Preferred valid driver’s license with insurance; driving record must meet company standards.
Physical Demands
- Exert up to 50 pounds occasionally, 20 pounds frequently, and 10 pounds constantly; work mostly standing, with frequent walking and stamina for 8-12 hour shifts.
Working Conditions
- Primarily indoor, with occasional exposure to heat, humidity, and water. Frequent hand washing required. Operate kitchen equipment with moving parts.
Tools and Equipment
- Cash registers, computers, ovens, and other kitchen and office tools.
