Description
Position Summary: Shift Leaders provide direct supervision and ensure all crew members work efficiently and effectively during their shift. They do not have a minimum hour requirement.
Primary Responsibilities
The following duties represent the majority of the position but are not exhaustive:
- Ensure adherence to restaurant standards, manage workflow, reassign crew, and support labor goals.
- Resolve guest concerns promptly, determine when customer credit is necessary, and document decisions for audits.
- Meet guest needs by managing food prep, delivery times, order verification, table cleaning, and guest greetings and farewells.
- Maintain food safety and sanitation standards, including glove use, restroom cleanliness, surface disinfection, proper food storage, and floor safety.
- Ensure crew compliance with uniform and safety guidelines, including footwear and hair restraints.
- Perform shift tasks such as cash handling, deposits, end-of-shift activities, and incident reporting.
- Oversee safety and security of personnel, guests, and property, including locking doors, setting alarms, and securing cash.
- Handle administrative tasks like scheduling, ordering, inventory, and record-keeping.
- Assist in training and developing crew members.

- In-depth knowledge of operational procedures.
- Understanding of health and safety regulations.
- Comfort with workplace technology and POS systems.
- Basic math skills.
- Ability to manage, direct, and correct crew members.
Experience/Education & Certification
- Must pass the Mazzio’s Comp 1 Test before managing a shift.
- Possibly require a Food Handler’s permit, Foodservice Sanitation Certification, or other permits/licenses per local laws.
- Preferred valid driver’s license with insurance and a clean driving record.
Physical Demands
- Exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally; work involves standing, walking, and performing physical activities for extended periods.
Working Conditions
- Primarily indoor work with exposure to heat, humidity, and water; frequent hand washing; operation of kitchen equipment.
Tools and Equipment
- Includes cash registers, computers, ovens, and other kitchen and office tools.
