Job summary

Volunteers of America Northern California and Northern Nevada is seeking a Variable hour, Day or Swing Shift Support Staff for Our Place Shelter, a housing-focused shelter serving women and families experiencing homelessness. Located on a 20-acre campus, this position supports daily operations and safety.

You will provide compassionate, nonjudgmental service, assist with meals, health and safety checks, and coordinate with case managers. CPR/First Aid is required within 90 days; flexible shifts.

Qualifications

• Requires CPR and First Aid training within 90 days of employment.
• Ability to communicate clearly with participants and staff.
• Flexibility with irregular hours, teamwork, and safety awareness.

Responsibilities

• Ensure quality service in a safe, nonjudgmental manner for participants.
• Assist with daily shelter operations including meals, housekeeping, and security.
• Maintain records, prepare reports, and coordinate with case managers.
• Respond to emergencies and de-escalate crises as needed.
• Support property management and inventory for participant belongings.
