Job summary

HELP USA in Brooklyn, NY is seeking a House Manager to lead a team of Residential Aides in our shelter. You’ll welcome new clients, conduct intakes, assign beds, and ensure daily routines, rules, meals, passes, curfews, etc., while collaborating with Safety Tour Supervisors and other colleagues.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent or related experience.
• FDNY F-02 required.
• FDNY F80 Fireguard Certificate required.
• Prior supervisory experience in residential facilities.
• Capacity to work with people experiencing homelessness and mental illness or other disadvantaged people.
• Strong customer service orientation and ability to manage interpersonal relationships.
• Ability to conduct interviews with clients and document clearly and concisely.
• Computer literacy, particularly with Microsoft Office applications.
• Bilingual English/Spanish a plus.
• Ability to provide night and weekend coverage as needed.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and conduct initial intakes for all new clients, assign beds, and orient new clients to the site and program requirements.
• Resolve clients' concerns and document progress notes in the DHS CARES system.
• Supervise regular inspections of the facility, including client rooms and dorms.
• Develop and mentor your team of Residential Aides through supervision, guidance, and team meetings.
