Job summary

HELP USA in New York City is seeking a House Manager to lead a team of Residential Aides in our shelter, ensuring a welcoming and safe environment for new clients entering our program. You will work closely with Safety Tour Supervisors to maintain order and dignity for residents.

You will handle intakes, coordinate with the DHS CARES system, supervise staff, and uphold daily routines, including meals, passes, and curfews. A strong service orientation and bilingual abilities are a plus.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent; equivalent experience considered.
• FDNY F-02 required.
• FDNY F80 Fireguard Certificate required.
• Prior supervisory experience in residential facilities.
• Ability to work with people experiencing homelessness and mental illness or other disadvantaged people.
• Strong customer service orientation and interpersonal skills.
• Computer literacy, particularly with Microsoft Office applications.
• Bilingual English/Spanish a plus.
• Night and weekend coverage availability.

Responsibilities

• Supervising and conducting initial intakes for all new clients and recording data in DHS CARES.
• Overseeing bed assignments, site orientation, rules, and daily routines for clients.
• Resolving client concerns and documenting progress notes in CARES.
• Developing Residential Aides through feedback, supervision, and team meetings.
