Job summary

The Salvation Army in Wisconsin is seeking a Shelter Operations Coordinator to provide oversight of clients, intake staff, volunteers, and activities. The role focuses on managing shift operations, scheduling, intake interviews, and ensuring policy compliance while maintaining a safe, respectful environment for residents.

Responsibilities include de-escalation, crisis response, staff training, and coordinating with case management as needed.

Qualifications

• Two years’ experience in Human Services desired, with one year of experience working with the homeless population.
• Management experience helpful.

Responsibilities

• Manages, coordinates, and oversees all shift operations, ensuring efficient operation with participants, staff, property and services.
• Adjusts shelter advocate schedules and supervises volunteers.
• Trains staff and volunteers on policies, procedures and record keeping.
• Provides input to management on shelter advocate performance.
• Conducts intake interviews for new shelter residents.
• Monitors room assignments and distributes basic necessities.
• Supervises shelter and residents to ensure policy compliance.
• Provides de-escalation and crisis response.
• Answers calls and maintains shelter cleanliness and food service preparation.
• Ensures shift documentation and conducts room inspections.
