Job summary

The Salvation Army seeks Shelter Support Staff to help operate the King County Shelter program in Seattle. You will handle client intakes, crisis response, and daily facility oversight, ensuring safety and compliance with program rules.

Responsibilities include crisis intervention, coordination with partners, staff supervision support, and maintaining accurate records. Candidates should have a HS diploma or GED and experience in public-facing roles; WA driver’s license preferred.

Qualifications

• Six months minimum experience in public contact or customer service.
• Experience in a social service shelter or residential setting preferred.
• A valid WA driver’s license is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Respond to crisis and inquiry calls with support, information and referrals.
• Assist residents to maintain a safe environment and enforce house rules.
• Perform periodic facility inspections and address hazards or issues.
• Respond to emergencies and involve police, fire or medical as needed.
• Conduct client intakes and departure processes per policy.
• Provide orientation and training support to staff and volunteers.
• Collaborate with Salvation Army staff and community partners.
• Maintain case records and required forms accurately.
