Job summary

The Salvation Army North & Central Illinois Division seeks a Housing Advocate to support adults experiencing homelessness at Harbor Light Center and satellite locations in Minneapolis. You will provide compassionate, person-centered advocacy, help navigate shelter expectations, maintain records, and promote access to services with a dedicated team.

This full-time role involves engaging participants on the floor and at meals, coordinating with internal staff, and promoting long-term stability

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Minimum of one year of experience supporting individuals.
• Must successfully pass all required background checks.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to meet MVR requirements preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, person-centered support to adults experiencing homelessness.
• Assist participants in navigating shelter policies, responding to crises, and maintaining a safe environment.
• Maintain accurate participant records and incident reports per organizational standards.
• Connect participants with available social services and corps activities.
• Collaborate with colleagues to support Harbor Light Center initiatives and maintain local resource connections.
