Job summary

BRC is seeking a Community Technician to provide a steady, trusted presence for individuals experiencing homelessness. You will monitor residents, respond to crises, and apply trauma-informed techniques to keep people safe and supported.

This full-time role offers overtime, hands-on training, and opportunities for CPR/First Aid, Narcan, and other certifications, plus tuition assistance and retirement benefits.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• Strong communication skills and basic computer proficiency.
• Ability to remain calm under pressure and maintain professional boundaries.
• Willingness to obtain required certifications.
• Preferred: experience with homelessness, mental health, or substance use populations

Responsibilities

• Maintain a safe, orderly residential environment through active monitoring and rounds
• Engage residents using trauma-informed and de-escalation techniques
• Respond to conflicts, safety concerns, and crises professionally
• Screen residents and visitors while maintaining dignity and security
• Provide emergency support (First Aid/CPR, Narcan – training provided)
• Complete documentation (logbooks, incident reports, progress notes)
• Support fire safety procedures, inspections, and compliance
• Assist with meals, escorts, inventory, and facility upkeep
