Job summary

BRC is seeking a Community Technician to provide frontline support for individuals experiencing homelessness. You’ll help maintain a safe housing environment, monitor safety, and engage residents with empathy during moments of crisis.

No prior shelter experience required; you’ll receive trauma-informed care training, CPR/First Aid, Narcan, and opportunities for career progression within a mission-driven team. Shifts include mornings, evenings, and overnight.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• Strong communication skills and basic computer proficiency.
• Ability to remain calm under pressure and maintain professional boundaries.
• Willingness to obtain required certifications.
• Passion for helping individuals experiencing homelessness.

Responsibilities

• Maintain a safe, orderly residential environment through active monitoring and rounds
• Engage residents using trauma-informed and de-escalation techniques
• Respond to conflicts, safety concerns, and crises professionally
• Screen residents and visitors while maintaining dignity and security
• Provide emergency support (First Aid/CPR, Narcan – training provided)
• Complete documentation (logbooks, incident reports, progress notes)
• Support fire safety procedures, inspections, and compliance
• Assist with meals, escorts, inventory, and facility upkeep
