Job summary

The Salvation Army North and Central Illinois Division seeks a dedicated Shelter Supervisor to oversee client safety and daily operations in a residential setting. You will conduct intakes, eligibility assessments, and orientations, maintain HMIS records, and enforce program policies with calm, trauma-informed leadership.

You will also assist with meal service, crisis coordination, and ensure a clean, secure environment while collaborating with staff to support client success.

Qualifications

• High school diploma required; associate degree preferred.
• 1–3 years shelter, residential program, or related human services experience preferred.
• Experience conducting client intakes, assessments, and maintaining confidential records.
• Knowledge of trauma-informed care and crisis response procedures.
• Proficiency with HMIS and Microsoft Office.

Responsibilities

• Provide a safe and secure environment for clients and coordinate with crisis responders as needed.
• Conduct client intake, eligibility assessments, program orientations, and maintain documentation.
• Enforce program policies and de-escalate conflicts as required.
• Record data into HMIS and maintain daily logs and paperwork.
• Prepare and serve meals to clients and ensure facility cleanliness and safety.
• Monitor facility perimeter with security for safety and compliance.
• Attend staff meetings and complete required trainings.
