Job summary

Centerboard in Texas is seeking a part-time Direct Care Staff to provide on-site support to residents in the Emergency Assistance housing program. You will assist with daily shelter operations, respond to family concerns, and uphold safety procedures.

Shifts include overnight and evening hours, totaling 24–32 hours per week. The role requires a high school diploma, strong communication, and the ability to lift up to 40 lbs, with training provided.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• Two years’ experience in housing services or similar settings.
• Strong communication and problem-solving abilities.
• Valid driver’s license preferred.

Responsibilities

• Maintain cleanliness of common areas.
• Remain awake and alert during shifts; avoid appearing sleeping.
• Complete hourly rounds and document shift information.
• Report maintenance requests and incidents as required.
• Receive new families and manage sign-in/out procedures.
• Monitor entry/exit points and safety protocols.
• De-escalate conflicts and escalate significant incidents.
• Ensure comfort and safety of residents and staff.
