Job summary

Centerboard Inc. is seeking a Part-Time Direct Care Staff to support residents in the Emergency Assistance (EA) Housing Program.

The role provides on-site assistance, maintains safe and orderly shelter environments, and supports daily shelter operations across evening and overnight shifts. The position requires a high school diploma or GED (some college preferred) and strong communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills.

Qualifications

• High school diploma/GED required; some college preferred.
• Two years’ experience in housing services, residential programs, or public contact.
• Valid driver’s license preferred.
• Centerboard training (Orientation, OSHA, HIPAA, CPR & First Aid) or equivalent.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Outlook (email, Word, Excel) and basic computer apps for data entry.

Responsibilities

• Maintain cleanliness of common areas.
• Remain awake, alert, and respond during shifts; avoid sleeping.
• Complete hourly rounds and document shift information.
• Report maintenance requests and incidents.
• Receive new families arriving for shelter placement.
• Enforce visiting guidelines and sign-in/out procedures.
• Monitor entry/exit points and safety protocols.
• De-escalate minor conflicts and report significant incidents.
• Communicate shift information via email, phone, or written notes.
• Perform duties related to shelter operations as assigned.
