Centerboard Inc. is seeking Direct Care Staff to provide on-site support in the Emergency Assistance Housing Program in Lynn, MA. You will help maintain a safe, orderly shelter, respond to family concerns, and document shift activities.

Flexible part-time schedules include evenings and overnights, with paid training in Orientation, OSHA, HIPAA, and CPR & First Aid. Requirements include a high school diploma or GED and at least two years in housing services or related fields.

Qualifications

• Must complete Centerboard Orientation, OSHA, HIPAA and CPR & First Aid trainings.

Responsibilities

• Maintain cleanliness of common areas and ensure safety protocols are followed.
• Receive new families and assist with shelter placement as needed.
• Document shift information and incident reports; update logs.
• Monitor entry/exit points and sign-in/out procedures for safety.
• De-escalate minor conflicts and report significant incidents to supervisor.
• Respond to emergencies following program safety procedures and assist with evacuations.

SUMMARY OF POSITIONDirect Care Staff provide on-site assistance to residents in the Emergency Assistance (EA) Housing Program and support safe, orderly, and supportive shelter environments. The position supports daily shelter operations, responds to family concerns, and follows program safety procedures. Direct Care Staff work assigned shifts to support continuous on-site coverage and respond to family and program requirements.Schedule:Part-Time: 24–32 hours per weekAvailable schedules:32 hours/week: Thursday–Saturday, 4:00 PM–12:00 AM, with a double shift on Saturday (8:00 AM–12:00 AM).32 hours/week: Sunday–Wednesday, 12:00 AM–8:00 AM (Overnight).24 hours/week: Thursday–Saturday, 12:00 AM–8:00 AM (Overnight).ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONSMaintain the cleanliness of common areas.Remain awake, alert, and available to respond throughout the shift, and avoid behavior that gives the appearance of sleeping.Complete hourly indoor and outdoor rounds during each shift.Document shift information in the Communication Log in MY EVOLV.Complete shift information and any incident reports for each shift.Report any maintenance requests and contact emergency maintenance as required.Receive new families arriving for shelter placement as needed.Ensure families keep common areas and hallways free from all personal belongings.Maintain keys for units in the locked key box.Ensure visiting guidelines are adhered to.Monitor entry and exit points; ensure sign-in/out procedures and safety protocols are followed.De-escalate minor conflicts or disagreements between shelter families and report significant incidents to the supervisor on duty or on call.Monitor the security system and report any issues or specific concerns.Communicate relevant program and shift information through email, phone and written means of communication.Clean units once families exit the shelter.Assess any maintenance issues reported by families after hours by entering the affected units and thereafter contact the landlord or Centerboard’s maintenance crew.Verify the laundry lockbox cash through a double count with staff from the previous shift and report any discrepancies to a supervisor immediately.Respond to emergencies in accordance with program safety procedures and support evacuation drills so families understand safety procedures.Perform other related duties as assigned.This position requires a high school diploma/GED or some college preferred. Two years’ experience working in housing services, residential programs or public contact. The candidate must possess strong communication, ability to problem solve and organizational skills. Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record preferred. Able to relate to people; written and verbal communication skills.Direct Care Staff must attend and successfully complete Centerboard training in Orientation, OSHA, HIPAA and CPR & First Aid and any other related training offered and deemed necessary for job requirements by Centerboard, Inc. Must be able to exhibit competencies of skills gained through trainings as a requirement of the position. Must know how to use Microsoft Outlook application including email, word and excel. A basic understanding of other computer applications for data entry is preferred.This position will require minimal physical labor. Sitting, standing, climbing stairs and walking will be required. The ability to drive and perform house checks on program participants as well as lifting up to 40 lbs is necessary. Moving around the facility to clean and monitor the program is required. This position requires the ability to write and document all transactions required of the program and its participants. Sleeping or the appearance of being asleep by lying down in any capacity is not permitted while at work including breaks.Based on operational requirements, program assignments, or EOHLC contract requirements, Centerboard may make temporary or permanent changes to an employee’s work location within a 15-mile radius of their designated primary worksite, scheduled work hours, and designated days off. Employees may be assigned across applicable EA shelter models and program locations, with responsibilities consistent with their position and the requirements of the assigned program.
