Centerboard is hiring Direct Care Staff in Salem, MA for the Emergency Assistance housing program. This part-time role supports residents, maintains shelter operations, and responds to family needs. Shifts are Saturdays and Sundays, 8 AM to 4 PM, with a 16-hour weekly schedule.

The position demands at least a high school diploma, some college preferred, and strong communication skills. Prior housing services experience and a valid driver’s license are desirable.

• High school diploma or GED required; some college preferred.
• Two years' experience in housing services, residential programs, or public contact.
• Strong communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
• Valid driver’s license preferred.
• Able to relate to people and communicate clearly.

Mansioni

• Maintain cleanliness of common areas.
• Remain alert and available during shifts.
• Complete hourly rounds indoors and outdoors.
• Document shift information in the log system.
• Complete shift information and incident reports.
• Report maintenance requests and contact maintenance as needed.
• Assist new families arriving for shelter placement.
• Ensure common areas and hallways remain free of personal belongings.
• Manage unit keys and maintain sign-in/out procedures.
• Monitor entry/exit points and safety protocols.
• De-escalate conflicts and report significant incidents.
• Monitor security system and communicate issues.
• Communicate shift information via email, phone, and written notes.
• Clean units after families leave the shelter.
• Assess after-hours issues and contact landlord or maintenance.
• Verify laundry lockbox cash with previous shift; report discrepancies.
• Respond to emergencies per safety procedures and assist with evacuations.
• Other duties as assigned.
