Job summary

First National Bank of Omaha is seeking a Senior Mainframe Engineer to provide technical leadership across our z/OS environments. The role focuses on modernizing mainframe operations, developing standardized upgrade approaches, and guiding complex OS rollouts to deliver reliable services.

You will work in a remote-capable environment and collaborate with cross-functional teams to reduce downtime while driving efficiency and scalability across customer environments.

Qualifications

• Proven experience with z/OS upgrades, mass maintenance and software installation.
• Deep knowledge of JES2, HCD/IODF, SMP/E, WLM, OMVS/USS, SMF/RMF, ASM, GRS, SDSF, TSO and RACF.
• Strong TCP/IP and VTAM networking, and LPAR configuration via HMC.

Responsibilities

• Lead technical direction for mainframe upgrades and standardized maintenance workflows.
• Mentor and guide the team on best practices for z/OS upgrades and automation.
• Enhance efficiency by driving performance improvements and reducing operational complexity.
• Oversee installs of IBM and ISV software per enterprise standards.
• Capture knowledge through documentation and templates for OS rollouts.
