First National Bank of Omaha is seeking a Senior Mainframe Engineer to lead z/OS upgrade initiatives and drive standardized, scalable processes across client environments. The role emphasizes technical leadership, strategic modernization, and documentation-driven delivery.

The ideal candidate will bring deep mainframe expertise, manage complex OS upgrade projects, and collaborate across teams to ensure reliable, high-quality outcomes. Remote work is supported with occasional travel as needed.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in z/OS upgrades, mass maintenance, and software installation.
• Deep knowledge of z/OS components (JES2, HCD/IODF, SMP/E, WLM, OMVS/USS, SMF/RMF, ASM, GRS, SDSF, TSO, RACF).
• 10+ years of experience as a Mainframe Senior Systems Engineer.

Responsibilities

• Serve as a technical leader guiding best practices for z/OS upgrades.
• Design standardized approaches for z/OS upgrades and mass maintenance.
• Oversee installation and maintenance of IBM and ISV software.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to plan OS upgrades.
• Develop technical documentation and templates for rollouts.
• Drive adoption of new technologies (Sysplex, automation).
• Act as SME for mainframe projects with governance.
• Provide advanced troubleshooting for escalated incidents.
• Participate in after-hours and weekend support.
