First National Bank of Omaha is seeking a Senior Mainframe Engineer to lead z/OS upgrade initiatives and standardize maintenance processes. You will guide teams, ensure reliable delivery, and collaborate across functions to modernize mainframe environments while maintaining security and performance.

The role emphasizes technical excellence, documentation, and strategic influence, with remote work options and occasional travel as needed. 10+ years in mainframe engineering is preferred.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in z/OS operating system upgrades and mass maintenance.
• In-depth knowledge of z/OS components: JES2, HCD/IODF, SMP/E, WLM, OMVS/USS, SMF/RMF, ASM, GRS, SDSF, TSO and RACF.
• Strong understanding of VTAM and TCP/IP and LPAR configuration via HMC.
• Experience with storage management: SMS, HSM, DFDSS, VSAM, IDCAMS, ICF Catalogs.
• Minimum 10 years of experience as a Mainframe Senior Systems Engineer.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical leadership and guidance on z/OS upgrades and mass maintenance.
• Design standardized approaches for z/OS upgrades and maintenance to ensure high quality outcomes.
• Lead efforts to optimize system performance and reduce operational complexity.
• Oversee installation, configuration, and maintenance of IBM and ISV software products.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to plan OS upgrades with minimal business impact.
• Develop technical documentation and templates for OS rollouts.
• Drive adoption of new technologies to support strategic objectives.
• Act as SME for mainframe projects and provide governance.
• Provide advanced troubleshooting for escalated incidents beyond Level 1.
• Participate in after-hours and weekend support as required.
