First National Bank of Omaha is seeking a Senior Mainframe Engineer to lead the z/OS upgrade strategy across complex environments. You will guide modernization efforts, optimize operations, and ensure reliable delivery of mainframe services.

Remote-friendly role requiring deep technical expertise and strategic vision. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams and mentors to drive standardized processes, automate where possible, and deliver scalable solutions for the enterprise.

Qualifications

• Required: experience with z/OS upgrades and mass maintenance deployment.
• Proficiency with JES2, HCD/IODF, SMP/E, WLM, OMVS/USS, SMF, RMF, ASM, GRS, SDSF, TSO, RACF.
• Strong TCP/IP and VTAM knowledge; LPAR configuration via HMC.
• Storage management experience: SMS, HSM, DFDSS, VSAM, IDCAMS, ICF Catalogs.
• Minimum 10 years as a Mainframe Senior Systems Engineer.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical leadership and mentor team on z/OS upgrade optimization.
• Design standardized approaches for z/OS upgrades and mass maintenance.
• Lead efforts to optimize performance and reduce operational complexity.
• Oversee installation/configuration of IBM and ISV software per standards.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to plan OS upgrades with minimal business impact.
• Develop technical documentation and templates for OS rollouts.
• Drive adoption of new technologies to support strategic objectives.
• Act as SME for mainframe infrastructure projects and governance.
• Provide advanced troubleshooting beyond Level 1 support.
• Participate in after-hours and weekend support as required.
