Job summary

First National Bank of Omaha leaders seek a Senior Mainframe Engineer to guide z/OS upgrades and modernization initiatives. You will mentor teams, establish standardized upgrade practices, and drive performance improvements across enterprise environments.

You will oversee IBM and ISV software installations, document rollout plans, and collaborate on cross-functional OS upgrade projects. Remote work is supported with occasional travel as needed.

Qualifications

• Experience with z/OS upgrades, mass maintenance, and software installation.
• Deep knowledge of z/OS components: JES2, HCD/IODF, SMP/E, WLM, OMVS/USS, SMF/RMF, ASM, GRS, SDSF, TSO, RACF.
• Strong TCP/IP, VTAM, and LPAR configuration via HMC.
• 10+ years as a Mainframe Senior Systems Engineer.

Responsibilities

• Serve as a technical leader, guiding best practices and mentoring on z/OS upgrade optimization.
• Design standardized approaches for z/OS upgrades and mass maintenance for repeatable outcomes.
• Lead efforts to optimize performance, streamline processes, and reduce complexity.
• Oversee installation, configuration, and maintenance of IBM and ISV software products.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to plan OS upgrades with minimal business impact.
• Develop and maintain technical documentation and rollout templates.
• Drive adoption of new technologies (Sysplex enhancements, automation) to support objectives.
• Act as SME for mainframe projects, providing technical direction and governance.
• Provide advanced troubleshooting for escalated incidents beyond Level 1.
• Participate in after-hours and weekend support as required.
