First National Bank of Omaha is seeking a Senior Mainframe Engineer to lead z/OS upgrades and modernization in a remote-capable role. You will guide technical teams, establish standardized upgrade processes, and ensure reliable delivery of mainframe services across environments.

The ideal candidate brings 10+ years as a Mainframe Senior Systems Engineer, with strong expertise in z/OS components, JMS, and security interfaces, driving efficiency and scalability.

Qualifications

• Senior Mainframe Systems Engineer with 10+ years of experience.
• Expertise in z/OS upgrades, mass maintenance, and software installation.
• Deep knowledge of JES2, HCD/IODF, SMP/E, WLM, and RACF.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical leadership for z/OS upgrades and maintenance.
• Design standardized upgrade approaches for repeatable, high-quality outcomes.
• Optimize system performance and reduce operational complexity.
• Oversee IBM and ISV software installation and alignment with standards.
• Collaborate to plan OS upgrades with minimal business impact.
• Develop technical documentation and rollout templates.
• Drive adoption of automation and Sysplex enhancements.
• Act as SME for mainframe projects and governance.
• Provide advanced troubleshooting beyond Level 1 support.
• Participate in after-hours and weekend support as needed.
