Job summary

Valencia College’s West Campus is seeking a Part-Time Instructional Lab Assistant, Senior (Writing Tutor) to support the Writing Center. You will provide writing assistance, coordinate lab activities, and help students with essays, reports, and applications.

You’ll supervise part-time staff, maintain lab resources, and participate in workshops and campus events. Excellent communication and coaching skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited institution.
• Experience tutoring or teaching writing is preferred.
• Ability to explain writing and grammar clearly and concisely.

Responsibilities

• Provide writing assistance to students across various writing tasks.
• Coordinate and supervise part-time and student lab staff.
• Maintain lab safety and ensure proper equipment use.
• Organize and participate in writing-related workshops and events.
• Monitor student progress and provide constructive feedback.
• Track lab expenditures and inventory as needed.
• Orient students to lab equipment and safety procedures.
• Attend departmental meetings and campus events as required.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.
