Job summary

Moraine Valley Community College is seeking a Work Study Tutor Student Employee for the Liberal Arts Speaking & Writing Center. The role focuses on confidential, supportive tutoring with strong emphasis on writing and communication.

You will assist students through individualized academic guidance, help simplify complex concepts, and maintain strict professionalism during scheduled hours on the Main Campus. The supervisor is Alicea Toso and you will report to the Liberal Arts department.

Qualifications

• Must be able to maintain strict confidentiality while assisting students.
• Strong oral and written communication skills are essential.
• Ability to explain complex concepts in a clear, student-friendly manner.
• Proficiency with basic productivity tools (Word/Excel/PowerPoint).
• Demonstrated time management and reliability in a tutoring role.

Responsibilities

• Provide tutoring and individualized academic assistance to students.
• Help students develop study strategies and effective writing/reading skills.
• Support the Speaking & Writing Center during scheduled hours.
• Maintain confidentiality and professionalism in all interactions.
• Communicate clearly with students and supervisor about progress and needs.
