Job summary

Speechify is seeking a senior Windows desktop engineer to design, architect, and build native Windows applications using the Windows App SDK and WinUI. You will ensure high performance, accessibility compliance, and robust interop between managed and native components, collaborating with designers, QA, and product stakeholders.

You will own features end-to-end from conception to release, mentor others, and help shape the long-term Windows platform roadmap in a distributed, office-less

Qualifications

• 3+ years in Windows desktop app development using Windows App SDK, WinUI (or similar), C#, XAML
• Deep understanding of Windows app architecture including interop between managed and native code
• Proven track record shipping production-quality desktop apps with reliability, performance and maintainability
• Strong experience with accessibility APIs on Windows (Microsoft UI Automation or similar)
• Excellent software engineering fundamentals: OOP, design patterns, data structures, algorithms, memory management, multi-threading
• Experience leading technical design, mentoring engineers, code reviews, and architecture decisions
• Strong communication skills and a user-centric mindset

Responsibilities

• Lead design, architecture, and development of native Windows desktop apps using Windows App SDK, WinUI, C#, XAML
• Define best practices for Windows desktop development across the codebase
• Drive accessibility efforts ensuring screen-reader support, keyboard navigation, focus management
• Collaborate with product designers, UX researchers, QA to shape UI/UX and roadmap for Windows platform
• Own full lifecycle of features from conception to maintenance
• Identify and resolve complex bugs, performance bottlenecks, and compatibility issues
