Job summary

Speechify is seeking a senior Windows desktop engineer to lead the design, architecture, and development of native Windows apps using Windows App SDK, WinUI, C#, and XAML. You will collaborate with product designers, QA, and other engineers to shape the Windows platform and deliver reliable, accessible software.

You will own features end-to-end from conception to release, drive accessibility improvements, optimize performance, and mentor others while advocating best practices and cross-version

Qualifications

• 3+ years in Windows desktop development with Windows App SDK, WinUI, C#, XAML, and ideally native C++.
• Deep understanding of Windows app architecture and interop between managed and native code.
• Proven track record shipping production desktop apps with reliability and performance.
• Strong experience with accessibility APIs on Windows (UI Automation).
• Excellent software engineering fundamentals: OOP, design patterns, data structures, algorithms, memory management, and multithreading.
• Experience leading technical design, mentoring engineers, code reviews, and architecture decisions.
• Strong communication and cross-functional collaboration skills.
• User-centric mindset, delivering polished and accessible experiences.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design, architecture, and development of native Windows desktop applications using Windows App SDK, WinUI (or related UI frameworks), C#, XAML, and — when needed — C++.
• Define and enforce best-practices for Windows desktop development across the codebase: architecture, performance, memory usage, responsive UI, and cross-version compatibility.
• Drive accessibility efforts: integrate and validate accessibility APIs, ensure UI controls, focus management, keyboard navigation, and screen-reader support.
• Collaborate with product designers, UX researchers, QA, and stakeholders to shape feature planning and long-term roadmap for Windows platform.
• Take ownership of full lifecycle of features from conception to release, maintaining quality and reliability.
• Identify and resolve complex bugs, performance bottlenecks, memory leaks, rendering issues, and propose robust architectural solutions.
