Job summary

Speechify is seeking an experienced Windows desktop software engineer to design, build, and ship native Windows applications using Windows App SDK, WinUI, C#, and XAML. You will drive accessibility efforts and collaborate with product designers, QA, and engineers to shape the long-term roadmap for the Windows platform.

Qualifications

• 3+ years in Windows desktop development with Windows App SDK, WinUI, C#, XAML; native Windows experience preferred.
• Strong understanding of Windows architecture and .NET interop between managed and native code.
• Proven track record shipping production desktop apps with emphasis on reliability, performance, and maintainability.
• Strong experience with accessibility APIs on Windows and building accessible software.
• Excellent software engineering fundamentals: OOP, design patterns, data structures, algorithms, memory management, multi-threading.
• Experience leading technical design, mentoring engineers, conducting code reviews, and making architecture decisions.
• Strong communication skills and a user-centric mindset for polished, intuitive experiences.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design, architecture, and development of native Windows desktop applications using Windows App SDK, WinUI, C#, XAML, and C++ as needed.
• Define and enforce best practices for Windows desktop development across the codebase.
• Drive accessibility efforts: UI Automation, keyboard navigation, screen-reader support.
• Collaborate with product designers, UX researchers, QA, and stakeholders to shape feature planning and long-term roadmap.
• Own full lifecycle of features from conception to release and maintenance.
• Identify and resolve complex bugs, performance bottlenecks, memory issues, or compatibility problems.
