Job summary

HDR is seeking a WTEM Business Class Director to lead technical capabilities and risk management across HDR’s wastewater treatment and effluent management programs. This role builds relationships with market sectors, directs staff, mentors technical leaders, and advances research that translates into practice standards and client value.

You will guide strategic HR planning, coordinate program development, and engage with industry organizations to elevate HDR’s WTEM offerings.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Architecture, Engineering or closely related field.
• At least 10 years of experience in related field.
• Registration in Architecture/Engineering for leadership roles.
• Experience in development and management of diverse teams.
• Ability to work cooperatively with HDR directors, operations and marketing managers.
• Commitment to quality, improvement and HDR values.
• Active participation in HDR's employee-owned culture.

Responsibilities

• Provide company-wide leadership of technical capabilities within the business class.
• Build relationships with related business classes, market sectors, and operations.
• Lead and participate in technical risk management through process and resource reviews.
• Drive quality assurance and control with the Quality Manager.
• Oversee development and application of technical tools, standards and techniques.
• Oversee assignment of qualified staff to projects and effective use of worksharing.
• Collaborate with market sector directors to develop strategic plan for the business class.
• Lead applied research strategy and engagement to advance WTEM capabilities.
• Maintain strategic relationships with university programs for workforce development.
• Facilitate cross-office teamwork and communication across HDR's units.
• Monitor direction, policies, QA, tools and resource workload.
• Build technical expertise and production capacity through recruitment and training.
• Support client development and project pursuits as needed.
• Represent HDR in industry organizations and events.
