Job summary

Wounded Warrior Project (WWP) is seeking a Senior National Service Officer-Appeals to advocate for veterans and dependents before VA. The role involves drafting, editing, and managing appeals under AMA and legacy systems, reviewing evidence, and guiding options with field staff.

You will train teammates, develop relationships with VA officials, and support policy teams. The position emphasizes strong legal and appellate abilities, with duties spanning research, briefing, and coordination across

Qualifications

• Five years of experience as a veteran's benefits advocate.
• J.D. may be considered in lieu of advocate experience.
• Experience with Board of Veterans Appeals is preferred.
• ASIST Certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Draft decisions for review by a Veterans Law Judge (VLJ).
• Manage appeals dockets information and distribute electronically to field staff.
• Prepare appellate briefs and conduct hearings docketed at the Board of Veterans Appeals.
• Assist Benefits Training team to train teammates on appellate practices.
• Conduct research on questions from policy teams and provide support.
