Job summary

Wounded Warrior Project (WWP) is seeking a Senior National Service Officer-Appeals to advocate for veterans and their families in benefits appeals before the VA and Board of Veterans Appeals. The role includes drafting and editing appellate arguments, case management, and training colleagues in best practices across regional offices.

A strong background in veterans benefits law and an active license is preferred.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of Title 38 and CFR governing veterans benefits.
• Expertise in the appellate process and VA systems.
• Five years of veterans benefits advocacy experience or JD in lieu of advocacy experience.

Responsibilities

• Draft decisions, including complex ones, for VLJ review.
• Ensure proper drafting, editing, and management of issues before BVA.
• Review evidence for credibility and probative value in claims files.
• Manage appeals dockets and distribute electronically to field staff.
• Prepare appellate briefs and conduct hearings docketed at BVA.
• Ensure accuracy of Board decisions and assist training teams.
